The key to fluorescence is harnessing the energy of black light - turning invisible light into light we can see.

All light is a form of electromagnetic radiation and it has a dual character - behaving simultaneously like a wave and like a stream of particles called photons. The photons we humans can see (the visible light spectrum) is red at one end, green in the middle, and violet at the other end. The light works i.e both the UV and regular portion. The UV portion was too weak to observe pet stains and the battery compartment was difficult to open and the battery polarity directions were difficult to see. All in all, it would be great for use in a bedroom for a secondary light source.

I purchased this blacklight to track down cat pee and spray in our basement. It was somewhat effective but not as good a tool as I had hoped. The blacklight is quite small and does not put out a lot of light. I did find some cat pee I was not aware of, but in general I found the light to be fairly weak even in near complete darkness. I am not sure if a brighter backlight would have helped my cause.

I did my due diligence and read all the reviews before purchasing the unit. I was a little hesitant to say the least only because I believe in "you get what you pay for". Well I was pleasantly surprised when It arrived within 3 or 4 days of ordering it, surpassing my first expectation of a long delivery time. I've used it a couple of time now and find that it illuminates ALL the spots where my mutt has bound his territory in the house. No, it does NOT work in the bright sunlight, but at night when I turn out the lights it shows all the spots! Heck, I may have to order a blacklight poster.
