I am giving this 4 stars as of today, because i just received it and cannot vouch for it's long term performance. But if it is still working next year, I'll be giving it 10 stars. I took it out into my back yard and it lit up the entire back yard from grass to trees. it is amazingly powerful and really must be seen to be believed. Inside, it can be audio activated and fills the room with light. bottom line: at this price point, assuming it lasts for awhile, you can't go wrong.

I recently purchased this light to add to my collection of djing equipment. The light works poorly. The bulb somtimes goes out and jumps back on. I wanted to tight it or take a look at it, but there is no way to get to the bulb without destroying it. The motor that spins it somtimes wiggles and doesn't know what direction to spin and somtimes doesn't spin at all. You could expect a bit more from 23.00 $ not a lot but a little more relible would be great.

Got this product the other day. I was inspired to buy it by the mood balls on the table in the bar at the top of the Burj Al Arab in Dubai. Those didn't have the color variation of this product but did change colors at a slower, more calming speed. This product has a great color range and nice functionality-the ability to lock onto 1 color or cycle through all of them-however, I'm just not a big fan of how quickly the colors change. It's nice that there are two speeds to choose from but one speed is Really, really fast and the other is just fast. I wish the difference between the two cycle speeds was considerably more noticable, both slower too.



Still not bad for the 6-7 dollar price though. Vendor shipped quickly too.

Unfortunately I did not test it sooner. I didn't expect it to not work.

I pulled it out of the box, screwed it to the ceiling, put my mirror ball on it and plugged it in.

No spinning, just an ugly sound.

I never dropped it, I never had any accidents. I did everything carefully.

I tried opening it up to see if I could fix it but that was not possible.

I really can't believe something like this was sent to me.

Really unacceptable.

If your panel lacks a BNC receptical for a light, don' fret it - just order the bnc part separately . L-comm makes several low profile designs available here on amazon - pick the insulated if your chassis is metal, the non-insulated if plastic to avoid ground loops.



Second tip - this comes with a standard bulb (bayonet mount type) but has room for almost anything that diameter past the bulb - this lets you be creative. You can find LED replacements for the bulb which draw less power and can be color coordinated with your mixing room (blue or red for example - most mixing rooms I use are backlit with blue lights during the production and white during setup) - you can also take a bayonet base and put both a high intensity blue and white led into one socket, but reverse the polarity of one to the other. Then use a toggle switch to determine which one you want turned on on your equipment if you have 2 colors by changing the polarity to the light (note you must have an isolated bnc mount to do this since you will be driving the ground lead positive for one color - no problem if there is an insulator in the bnc connector. It's overkill for most things but it looks very professional when you "go blue" and the mixers do too.



Using standard bayonet lamps and standard bnc sockets was a smart design - they are small, cheap, and available everywhere. I have XLR lamps that are not as versitile due to the size of an xlr female receptical.



The overall length is between 10 and 12 inches, but the flex-shaft is very flexible and will do a u-turn in just 3" so the length is not a problem



Although these are not as stiff as the professional units that have their own rack-mount panel (and take up rackspace for a light) their added flexibility makes them more usable than the big guys, so I'm giving it 5 stars even though it's "less" product. Usability is a must.
