First, I'm not a DJ. I bought this item because I wanted a quick way to reboot home electronics items (like modems etc), that are re-started by turning power off for a second. There are surprisingly few power strips available with individual large lighted switches. Some of the others for sale are very expensive.
I already bought an 8-switch unit from this manufacturer, and its great.
This one is smaller, but the same principle of easy on-off applies.
Be advised this unit is primarily meant to be bolted to shelving or a deck, though four bolt holes at the four corners. (You can see them in the ad photo). I just sit mine on its side on a shelf where its convenient -- not too pretty, but it's close by, and the price is right.

Electrical sockets for plugs are mounted in a fairly stupid way. One might expect that this item was built for rack or panel mounting, but it appears to be designed for use while laying on a desk. If you look at Amazon's photo of the item and consider that it is basically a rectangle, the sockets are on the top surface of the rectangle - not on the rear surface parallel to the front. I say that it is "basically a rectangle" because it isn't really - the front surface with the switches on it is actually tilted slightly, with the top surface being higher than the lower one. Again, this would tilt the controls towards the user were the unit laying on a desk. That's well and good, but I have too much junk on my desk already. The mounting holes in the bezel seem more cosmetic than functional.
As for the quality of the item itself, it isn't terrific. The switches aren't mounted straight. The front bezel is made out of fairly small-gauge sheetmetal, and on mine it is actually bent (probably from shipping, there wasn't much padding in the box). But it's $15, so it's not like I was expecting anything terrific.
This is a pretty nice item for the money, but it's not correct for my application. I suspect that goes for a lot of other customers who order it expecting a scaled-down version of American DJ's eight-switch unit. Amazon ought to improve the description or provide pictures showing just how this item is different. It's okay if you want something that sits on a desk, but I don't, and I'll probably be exchanging it for the eight-switch model.

i originally ordered the 8-switch unit to controll items on my saltwater tank, but afterwards decided that having the tank split between 2 seperate GFCI circuits was better incase it tripped....that way only part of the tank would go out (hopefully)
i onll gave this item 4 stars cause the plugs on the top rear & the backside of the unit on an angle makes for more limited mounting options over if it was done like the 8-switch version that is not on an angle & the plugs on the rear.
overall, other than the silly plug configuration on the rear, still a good solid item.
amazons price is the lowest avail & can be matched at a few other online vendors, but factoring in the free shipping (when i ordered 2) made it a better deal here :)

Excellent product. I am using it as a supplement to the 8 channel. The only recommendation is I wish the plug-ins for each switch were located on the back like the 8 channel instead of below.

i bought this 4 channel switch center for my mobile DJ services, and it is extremely great. its just right for me and what i do because i dont need a Huge light controller, all i need is these 4 channels. i have had no problems with it at all. it is very heavy duty and can handle plenty of amps.
