Not much to say here... They work like any other blacklight fluorescent tubes. I installed them in my garage halloween before last, for a haunted house we had set up, and I have left them in ever since. All 4 of them are still running strong.



They seem to work great in any standard 48" fixture. Sometimes the warmup takes up to 2 minutes, so they aren't always quite instant-on. Such is the case with any blacklight tube that doesn't use a starter-cap in the fixture.

I purchased two of these lights for use at my wedding reception/house party in companion with some other items. I also purchased the four-pack of different colored 'gel' lenses to put over these lights. The lights, themselves, were aimed at a rotating mirror ball/disco ball in the center of the room. One light was attached to an American DJ metal stand with crossbar. The other I sort of 'rigged' over a metal curtain rod.



The lights worked great with plenty of cord available, a solid mounting bracket and adequate brightness. The included retaining clip was a little bit tough to remove and replace, but my guess is that if it were any 'easier' then it wouldn't be secure enough to be safe. I was also surprised that the bulbs don't "thread" into the base but are instead completely retained by the spring-like retaining clip/ring around the perimeter that I removed and reinstalled over-top of the color gels. Keep this in mind if you are putting on gel lenses, as well, as the bulb could slip out and drop if you are holding it at the wrong angle!



Another thing to keep in mind - if you are trying to create a certain mood or ambience and plan on using color gels - the red gel was bright enough to be seen in daylight all around the room. But with the blue gel installed, the light was fairly dim until the sun had set. Once it was 'dark', they both were fine. So if you're going for a blue-lit room, you may want to purchase more lights instead of fewer.

I'm responding somewhat to the first review and to let people know just how useful these things can be.



Firstly, I've never had the 100 hour limit he talks about. I built two 8 light columns for one of my top customers and they have trucked them across the U.S. for the last 2.5 years, not a single lamp has burned out. These lamps can also be purchased at Lowes for about $6. Make sure you buy the par36s with the turn off front lamp holder and not the ones using a spring wire. They can be colored with lenses for about $2 a lamp, less if you find the right price. I've built several rigs for bands and myself based around these lights and have never had to replace very many lamps. I keep two in the box just in case but rarely use them.



The Par36 Pinspot is easily the first choice for starting a light show for any band. They're cheap and durable. The best thing about them is that they use a 4515 6v 30w bulb. If you step this up to the line side it becomes clear they hardly draw any current. The end result is that you can pile these things onto a dimmer pack of even the smallest size and not risk burning it out. Fewer dimmers, less cost. More dimmers(channels) more flexibility, cooler show. If you get enough of them together they become a wall of light. It's pretty cool and has a range of about 20 feet. I know this doesn't sound like much distance but I did say it's the start of a great light show. Hell, most bands buy a kit with 8 par38s and call it a day so this is far and above that.



On the converse side, buying large par lights,(56 & 64s), you'll eat up dimmers fast and need large amounts of power to run them. How many venues are really that prepared to supply you with 4 20amp breakers for your band? LED lamps are a good option but at $100 a lamp very costly. They also have a much higher learning curve for programming.



In all the starting rigs I've built for people I'll use two bars of 4 Par38 washes out front pointing toward the band and then get at least a 10 truss for behind the band and load it with pinspots. As many as they can afford and the truss can support. Then a HZ1000 hazer and colored lenses. I use Elation boards usually because of cost, features, and reliability. Then Dimmer pack this all up nice and neat. Program in scenes and watch people as they marvel at the number of little beams coming down.



If the show grows to include larger par lights then the lenses can come off a few at a time to create white Rain lights that are always great with a bit of haze. Fog sucks, stay away from it. Venues hate it, customers hate it and who wants to breath it? The HZ1000 is DMX controllable and can be found online for $200.



I'm building a rig right now with 8 par38s out front and 24 par36s on a 15' truss behind with the HZ1000 mounted to the truss. The whole show will run off a single 20 amp breaker. I'm using 5 dimmers for ease of assembly and set them so the fronts are ch.1-4, the outside rears are 5-8 and the middle are 9-12. The hazer is channels 13-14 using a simple stage setter 8. All the cost is in the truss at about $650. The whole rig will come in under $2000 with a single road case that holds the whole thing. It sets up in about 30 minutes once you get practiced up on it. Note that sometimes you have to rewire a channel on your snake to get it to carry DMX but it does work, don't be mislead. 3 wire DMX is the same as a mic cord EXCEPT sometimes the shield of the cord is wired to the wrong lead and has to be switched around.

I go out of my way to find cool color-changing LED lights, whether they be simple night lights or bulbs. This one intrigued me from the start: a bulb with a remote control? Sold! I took a chance, and I couldn't be happier with the results. The bulb uses five watts but (allegedly) throws off 15 watts--it seems a lot brighter. The colors are brilliant, and the effects available via the remote proved more than adequate. I installed the light above my front door in a recessed lighting fixture; it lights up the entire entranceway and some of the dining room at night. Don't worry about running it 24/7 like I do--it should burn for 50,000 hours. If it works as advertised, you won't need a replacement for 5.7 years. Big ups to EagleLight!

Perfect for mood lighting.



The first thing that got my attention was the build quality. I expected the bulb to be of cheap, fragile plastic construction, but it's actually very solid and of good weight. The size is about as long as a PAR20 bulb and almost exactly as wide as an MR16.



The color it produces is extremely vibrant, very saturated. The transitions are clean and look professional. As one reviewer mentioned earlier, things are a little more on the dim side. The brightest colors (blue and white) are equivalent to a 20 watt bulb and the dimmest color (red) is about an 8 watt bulb. While this perfect for mood lighting, as a party-lighting solution, you will require many bulbs. I recommend searching out and buying the bulb by the same seller without the remote when getting multiples. It saves a few bucks and you can use the same remote for all the bulbs.



The remote has a range of about six feet and about a 60 degree spread. It's signal easily goes through recessed cans (as long as you point it at the bulb).



The bulbs do have a memory of the last setting they were on when turning them on, either through the remote or power switch, as long as they are "trained" with the setting by leaving it on for at least a few minutes. I do notice that, when on solid colors at max brightness, the bulb controller flickers every once in a while. It's not enough do bother me, but I do notice it from time to time.



I will definetely be incorporating these bulbs in future lighting ideas.

I don't know if it was just my bulb, but this product was much dimmer than I expected. It did have a lot of useful features, though.



This lightbulb can change into just about every color you can think of. It's very easy to control with their remote. The bulb looks good - I wasn't sure if it would look that good from Amazon's image but I'm impressed. I thought the effects were cool but didn't find much of a use for them. Also, it uses LEDs, which use much less energy than regular lightbulbs.



Unfortunately, the bulb does have some major issues. It was much dimmer than I expected. If you want to fill a big room, such as a party room, with light, I wouldn't recommend this bulb. You'd have to get three or four of these so it would be bright enough. I can see where this would work well for a small room but not anywhere else. Also, these don't work with dimmers - the bulb goes crazy when you adjust the dimmer - it changes colors, it changes brightness, and turns off.



This bulb has great features, but, because it is so dim, it wouldn't work well in a very big room.

I was really intrigued, and decided to give it a try. The light is really slick! Excellent range of colors, and the 'smooth' color fade is impressive. The small remote control is another nifty feature [although if it were to malfunction...]. I recommend this for anyone looking for decorative lighting that's both unique and economical.
