I bought this light for karaoke shows to put some light by the singer. I attach it to my TV stand and shine it down to light up the background and I put it on slow flash. This light performs well. It has dip switches on the back to set it manually for any of the colors or flashing patterns. One pattern flashes slower than the other throughout the colors. You can even adjust the brightness for a single color by changing the dip switches. It has strobe effect too. You can run it DMX or manual by just plugging it in and adjusting the dip switches.
What I dont like about it.......
It does not have a plastic cover over the LEDs so they could be damaged while moving around. I cut out a piece of clear plastic from a toy box and put it under the round frame. This worked very well. I have seen others that had the plastic so maybe I got a bad one, not sure.
It has two 12" cords on the back and they cannot be removed. They are power in and power out. It comes with the cord to screw on the power in if you are plugging it in to the wall and not daisy chaining it. It also has an extension so you can make the power in or power out longer. This all works well if you are daisy chaing them but I am not. I dont want the 12" power out cord hanging on the back so I opened the back, snipped off the wires, put wire nuts on them and removed the power out cord. I wont be able to daisy chain it but thats ok for my setup.
Once I covered the LEDs and removed the power out cord, I love the light.
**Update. The light would not flash anymore or respond to the dip switches. It would work if I pushed down on the circuit board so I removed the board and checked it over with a magnifying glass and found some solder joints touching each other. I cleaned the loose solder off of the board and it works great.
NOW THAT THE LIGHT ACTUALLY WORKS RIGHT, I LOVE IT. I SHOULD NOT OF HAD TO ADD THE PLASTIC FRONT AND FIX THE CIRCUIT BOARD ON A BRAND NEW LIGHT.

As a long time DJ I am always on the lookout for new and exiting units that add that little "extra".
LED lighting has come on in leaps and bounds recently, long gone are the dull looking LED lights we were so used to seeing on our VHS, battery charges, etc etc. The LEDs in these light units, will knock your socks off!]
I ordered 8 of these units to put on top of my main front centerpiece stand. The first bog advantage is that the lights are physically small, and to say they have a transformer inside, much lighter than a standard par36 mirrorball type spot.
These units are not spot lights, but you will get a spot beam in very small rooms. However their prime function is a wash light. The second advantage is they never go "off". When you use par cans and a timer unit (standard bulb lenses etc) There are times when the bulb goes off, due to the chaser used. However the LED PAR83 stay on, but constantly change color and pattern. This breaks up "dark" monents in the room that standard par cans can often cause.
I wasnt expecting these units to be VERY brights, but wow they are that!. put it this way, you star at one, it will blind you for about 5 minutes. The units have a very nice addition of DMX controllability, however if you do not use DMX you can set the units to mastr/ slave and daisy chain them (only one mains socket and no timer/chaser needed, hurrahh!).
The LED lights themselves are of very high quality and will last a staggering amount of hours, around 100,000 they say, which is certainly incredible, even for LEDs. The construction is top notch, no rivets, full accesibility to the inside (in case the cable fastener comes unscrewed etc, very handy). You can also change the pattern types and speed with the DMX dipswitch, even if you dont use a dmx controller. This allows many options. For exampke I have 4 at a speed faster than the other 4, it created a really nice effect overall.
I HIGHLY recommend these units, as with most chauvet equipment in the last few years, top notch quality.
I cant think of any downside except the omission of audio sound to light mics. However the patterns are so nice, you will find you wont miss the sound to light loss. Another thing to mention is how strong they look in fog!
I got mine for $470 for a set of 8, which was a great buy, and I have certainly not regretted it!

Out of the box, these lights are pretty solid. Construction is sturdy and they come with both a power cord and power extension cord. I was glad to see that the ac adapter was built into the light. On the back of the light, there are plugs for both power in and power out; meaning these lights can be daisy chained on power just as they are with dmx.
After firing them up, I immediatley noticed that the color distribution was not that great; the colors wern't properly mixed and were not homogeneous. This is because there are twice as many red leds as there are blue and green, causing a slightly larger red blur and an uneven distribution - which was bad for me because I was using the lights as wash lights.
If you have as precise an attention to detail as I do, this uneven distribution would be unacceptable. After some trial and error, I found that if you remove the four screws securing the front window and tape a Rosco 118 Diffusion Film to the back side of this window, it significantly improves performance. The 118 film has just the right amount of diffusion power to even out the distrubution while retaining a good beam angle.
The built in programs aren't too impressive; none of them fade the colors - they all flash through colors or strobe. A static color can be set with the dip switches, with three dips for both red and green and two for blue, totaling 147 color combinations.
So now that I have my diffusion film on, the lights look beautiful. Color mixing via DMX is as smooth as anything out there... for a fraction of the cost.
Brightness is decent for an led light; the leds used in this are certainly of good quality. That said, they aren't powerful enough for stage use; (unless you have enough of them!) they are more suited towards indirect lighting, wash lighting, and general interior lighting.
